Update ideas

Idea for the next update:
Show an annoying "Please rate the app"-Reminder:
- at every second measure
- everytime the app starts
- at the sample screen
- at the list screen
I bet I find more opportunities to show it. How you can stop me from doing this, you ask? Pretty simple! Just rate the app.
(of course I won't do this, but I hopefully got your attention now)
Why?
One of the most important things to make an app a success is of course visibility. I don't exactly know how the algorithms works, that Google uses for the positions in the Playstore, but obviously ratings are a key factor.

How it works

Version 1.03:
I had the tabs navigation in the beta releases but thought it might be good to get a little bit more space, by dropping it in favour for the other view.
But it seems that some users couldn't find their way through the app without knowing which screens are left and right, so the tabs are back.
(looks better anyway, doesn't it ?)

More time signatures...

More time signatures will come in one of the next updates.
Because this is the first release, I want to see if someone finds bugs first. I think there are none, but of course I cannot test the app on all available devices. Please report bugs asap, wherever you want (eMail, G+, Twitter, Facebook, here). I will reply once I saw it.

Why does this app need these permissions ?

I get asked quite often why my other app has the internet and location permissions.
On the Blackberry App World "Holo Metronome" got a 1 star rating because of these 2 permissions and I have seen this on several apps in the Playstore aswell.

These permissions are needed to display ads.
If you give a 1 star rating because of this to an app (either mine or some else's):

If you don't want it, don't download it.


You can remove the ads for a beer or a coffee.

Details:
I was able to reduce the computing time of the bottleneck methods (sample mixing*) from 7000 ms to 2100 ms (100 iterations for "Song: Under the Moonwalk") by writing my own methods for byte->short and short->byte instead of using ShortBuffer/ByteBuffer, which seem to be very bad implemented in Android.

*The mixing is only done when the volumes are changed, not the whole time while the metronome is running, so this has nothing to do with the accuracy.

Beta 5.0

The metronome settings for metronomes in a list are properly saved, no need the "resave" the list after editing a metronome.
List Management: all bugs removed: save, delete, rename, load - everything should work as intended.
Icon changed.

I am currently optimizing the code. The lag while changing the volumes on older devices, should be gone when I am done.

Beta 4.8
Rewrote the sample mixing -> no more white noise @ low volumes.
Acc/1/4 volumes are a tiny bit too low.
The code is not optimized -> might lag a bit while you change the volumes.
Uninstall the old version!

Back to beta

Due to some critical bugs, this is going back to beta.

Changes in 4.7:

• New Metronomes can only be added at the "Metronome List" page. The way metronomes were added before (by entering a new title) was too confusing. The save button at the "Edit" screen now only saves the changes without adding a new metronome. To add a new metronome use the "+" button at the "Metronome List".
• Sound fixes: I reconverted all sounds to a proper wave format, the silence in the beginning of every sample was due to improper converting. This also caused weird sounds.

Bugs:

• There are a couple of bugs when a sample length is changed
• maybe more
